Fast Flash Duration

What’s the fastest flash duration I can get with your products? I need to stop action.

The fastest flash duration you can get is tied to which system you have. For Porty, the new EH PRO MINI 1200P Speed head (product code 3607 would give you the most speed (1/1700 of a second) with one Porty pack.

This speed head also comes in PRO MINI version (product code 3606) for the lightweight PRO MINI pack.

the Tria 1500 Speed pack (Product Code 3600) and the MH 3000 Speed Head (Product Code 555) will give you incredible speeds, 1/7400 of a second t0.5. The normal EH Pro 3000 Head would clock in at 1/2200 of a second. Still not bad. The TRIA 3000AS and a MH 3000 Speed head on the B channel will give you 1/2500 of a second.

For Monolights the flash duration is 1/600 at full power and 1/1800 of a second at t0.5.

Strobe Wizard channels

Just so I understand this clearly, if I have say 4 of the Integra Pro Plus heads, in order to control the individual power on each of the 4 channels, each light would need to be on its own channel via I assume dipswitches on each light? If that is the case, then wouldn’t I have to go and switch manually all the dipswitches to the same channel when I was ready to fire or would the optical switch take care of that for me? You could set all the heads differently power wise at the head, but if you tried to power up and down from the wireless transmitter then if the heads were on the same channel then they would go up and down together - OK if you have your ratio set and don’t want to change it. Also, is the optical switch on/off capabilities for each light controllable from the remote unit on the camera?

The head channel changer appears when you press in on the Power dial, C1, C2, C3, and the transmitter has the dipswitches on it. With the older Integra Pro Plus units you would have to set all the power levels on each head individually and then fire them off optically. With the NEW Integra Pro Plus units the transmitter has three channels and an “all” channel. This way you can set three different power levels on three separate heads, and switch it to all and they will all go off wirelessly. In addition if you have more than three units you want to fire you can have multiple heads on the same channel and then other units that you may want to control separately from the camera on a different channel. Once the unit is set to all they will all fire.

INTEGRA audio alert

Is there an audible alert indicator for the lights when they are ready to fire? In the picture of the units, it looks like there is an “Audio” switch. Can you clarify or is the only alert the modeling lights dimming to full when they are ready to fire?

You can have both audible or visual, or each individually. You will hear a beep when the unit is ready to fire again, or you can have the modeling light dim until the unit is ready.

I have a Porty 1200B and I was wondering if there was any way to override the auto-off function? The pack shuts off about every minute or so and I’d like for it to stay on if possible.

Look at the top control panel, there you’ll see the up - down push pad buttons for controlling the power of the pack - if you press down on both of them at the same time - you’ll see a number come up. That’s the time that the pack stays on till it shuts off. Now once you’ve pushed both, and the number appears - you then use the up-down buttons to change the time. You’ll see that at the short end of time it all of a sudden becomes two hash marks - what that means is the pack will never shut off - which is where I normally set my Porty. Hopefully that helps and you never have to run back to the pack to turn it back on.

What do the lights mean?

Perhaps you could explain the function of the % lights on the Porty showing 100, 50, 10% (Green, Orange and Red). When I fully charged my battery, which is new, the lights show 10% on full power and I only get about 50 full power flashes. Does the pack need repair?

The lights on the pack pertain to:

Green 100% charged
Starts Green and then turns Orange - 75% charge
Orange - 50% charge
Starts Orange and then turns Red - 25% charge
Red - 10% charge - time to recharge

If your new batteries do not seem to charge the culprit is probably the charger not the battery. Take a look at the chargers on line and see if the charger doesn’t look like the newest version. If not you may want to upgrade to the newer new charger - either 5670 or 5671.

What do I need?

Dear friends at HENSELUSA.COM …

I am interested in HENSEL products but I need your help please. So if it is possible answer to my questions:

1.What Lighting equipment do I need for Glamour and weddings in a studio situation - Please answer analytically for Main, Fill, Hair, Kicker and background lights,snoots,e.t.c– ? Do I need any Fresnel light or HENSEL EHT 3000 Flash head? and what PORTABLE Lighting equipment do I need for my location work (for example Weddings)?
To answer your questions:
1. For most weddings, people have been purchasing the self contained Integra Pro or Pro Plus, as they offer the versatility of ratios that you can do. You see, each light can be controlled in 1/10 of a stop increments over a six stop range, which gives you incredible control over the look that you are going for. They come in two or three light kits.

As far as Fresnel or the EHT Flash heads - let be say that for the EHT heads you would be tied to a box and cable unit as we call them. A pack on the ground and a head hooked into it. This pack would have a lot more light output but it also has very little ratio capability. These packs are normally used for studio use and have the ability to have multible heads using only one outlet per pack.

The fresnel is nice - but a very specific look. We have fresnels that work with our PORTY, MINI and TRIA systems.

2. The portable unit that would be best is the Porty. There are two units: The Porty 1200B or the Porty Premium. Main difference is the Premium is Asymmetrical so you can ratio up to three stops the two lamp heads - and the 1200B is symmetrical - plug one head in get all 1200 watts or plug two in and get 600 each - but you can dial them down 6 stops in 1/10 of a stop increments.
These packs can be carried around over the shoulder using a lamp head with a beauty dish and get gorgeous lighting - or your assistant can carry and hold the light out as you shoot. The Premium has the additional benifit of the wireless receiver built in - that can be triggered from a transmitter mounted to the hot shoe of your camera. This Strobe Wizard can be used for not only firing the pack but also for power up and down, and controlling the model lamp.
